Donald Trump has warned of the threat from ‘rogue nations’ in his debut speech to the UN General Assembly, specifically singling out North Korea and Iran.

Speaking in New York, Trump said America would ‘destroy’ North Korea if it was forced to defend itself or its allies, according to the BBC.

The US president also mocked North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un calling him a ‘rocket man’ on a ‘suicide mission’.

Trump said:

If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph.

If it [the US] forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea

The president also explained the ‘entire world’ is threatened by the nuclear threat in North Korea, after the country tested nuclear bombs and missiles in defiance of the UN.

Talking further about North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, Trump said:

Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for him and his regime.

Trump’s speech comes after North Korea reportedly threatened the US with a ‘horrible’ nuclear strike and a ‘miserable and final ruin’.

This latest threat by Kim Jong-un comes after the US flew stealth fighters and dropped bombs on the Korean peninsula in a ‘show of force’.

North Korea has warned more UN ‘sanctions and pressure’ will only accelerate its nuclear programme, according to BBC.

Tensions between the nations are extremely high, with North Korea saying the latest round of UN sanctions imposed upon the country represent ‘the most vicious, unethical and inhumane act of hostility’ and are an attempt to ‘physically exterminate the people’ living there.

The saga continues.
