Last night the biggest stars in the music biz all met up at the VMAs to remind each other quite how great they all are, but for Drake it wasn’t about him it was all about his muse – Rihanna.
The rapper had managed to keep a relatively low profile during the ceremony, despite winning the Best Hip-Hop video award for Hotline Bling, but finally appeared when it was time to present Rihanna with her Video Vanguard award.
Now Drake, who’s believed to be dating Rihanna, is either the world’s most supportive boyfriend or has a side-job in promoting her work because he launched into a gushing speech about her.
He said:
She is someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22-years-old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life I’ve looked up to her.
So far, so good, unfortunately things then took a cringe-worthy turn when Drake went in for a kiss after handing the pop star her award.
Rather than accepting her alleged beau’s kiss, she turned away in a manner that screamed ‘we’re just friends’ and must have been gutting for poor Drake.
It wasn’t all red faced embarrassment fothough, according to The Mirror’s eagle eyed sources Drake and Rihanna did actually share a quick kiss on stage, maybe Ri was just feeling a bit shy after the speech.
That or maybe Drake comes on a bit strong…
Yeah the billboard’s bit much…
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
