Dying Dog Is Given Heartbreaking Send Off After Diagnosis Of Bone Cancer

Sophia the six-year-old St Bernard spent her final hours playing in the snow at Manchester’s Chill Factore after being diagnosed with terminal bone cancer two months ago.

Her owner Alyson Page, from Leigh, decided to take her to the indoor ski slope for one final play in the snow after searching for something to make her final hours special.

Interviewed at Chill Factore, Alyson said:

She absolutely loves the snow, so I sent an email cheekily on the off-chance, I never expected them to be so kind to let us come and bring her. She has not really shown any interest in anything for a couple of weeks now, so just to see her with a waggy tail and diving around in the snow has just been amazing. It’s been a wonderful end for her.

Mrs Page recently went through IVF treatment to conceive her now eight-month-old daughter, saying that Sophia was a rock throughout the process.

She said: 

We would have sold the car, we would have done anything to pay for treatment, but the vet advised us to just make her as comfortable as possible.

Sophia was joined by her half-brother Yogi as staff at Chill Factore all went to meet her in her final hours.
