The frontman of Eagles of Death Metal has claimed that the security guards at Bataclan knew about the terrorist attack by ISIS before it happened.

Jesse Hughes says six guards did not show up for work on the night of the gig, and also claims that he asked for one guard to be removed from backstage security because he was behaving oddly, The Mirror reports.

The U.S. band were performing on stage when ISIS jihadists took the venue, killing 89 people and wounding 200.

Hughes told FOX News:

When I first got to the venue and walked in, I walked past the dude who was supposed to be the security guard for the backstage. He didn’t even look at me.

I immediately went to the promoter and said, ‘Who’s that guy? I want to put another dude on,’ and he goes, ‘well some of the other guards aren’t here yet,’ and eventually I found out that six or so wouldn’t show up at all.

Hughes went on to say that he wouldn’t make a definite statement out of respect of the investigation but said ‘it seems rather obvious they had a reason not to show up.’

The band made an emotional return to Paris following the November terror attacks, and were expected to carry on with their European tour but have since had to cancel due to Hughes tearing a tendon in his finger.

Hughes said he is ‘devastated’ that he can’t continue with the tour but the group promised to return ‘stronger’ in the summer when they are expected to resume touring.

He said:

I’m devastated that we cannot continue what has been a life-changing return to Europe, but I need to get repaired so we can continue to play rock music around this beautiful world, including coming back to Europe even stronger in the summer.

If his claims are true, it’s a pretty fucked up development that raises a lot of questions.
