Stelios Haji-loannou, or Stelios owner of EastJet, may have left his native Greece to live in Monaco 25 years ago, but he still loves the country.

Greece are of course in serious financial trouble at the minute, and with their ecomony in dire straights, Stelios’ Food From the Heart Foundation has become more important than ever.

The foundation was originally set up two years ago, with his main charitable foundation, the Stavros Narchos Foundation, having donated €100 million to their initiative against the Greek crisis since 2012.

The meals that the EasyJet owner gives away would cost around €4 in a supermarket, and with cash withdrawals now capped at €60 per day in Greece, it has made a huge difference to the poverty stricken people.

He claimed:

They are walking and queuing to receive something worth €4! It shows how much poverty and desperation there is.

On the day when we open the shutters and there are only 10 people queuing, we can declare victory.
