Ed Sheeran has completely taken himself off Twitter following his cameo in Game Of Thrones this week.

The singer already said he wasn’t going to read anything on the social media site after nasty comments were made about his Glastonbury set at the end of last month.

But Ed kept his profile until this week when he took it one step further and deleted his account, after his appearance in Game Of Thrones was criticised.

Ed has been on and off Twitter during his career, taking a ‘year out’ from social media in 2016, while working on his latest album and travelling around the world.

He said he was ‘sick of seeing the world through a screen’ but this latest move is the first time he the account has been removed.

People were quick to jump to Ed’s defence when it became clear his profile had gone.

And there was this ironically blunt analysis from comedian Chris Ramsay…

Opening up about nasty comments after closing Glastonbury last month, Ed said the mean things people say ‘ruins’ his day.

Sheeran said:

I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it.

I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that. One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it.

The head-fuck for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.

It all seemed to come to a head after Glasto when people were accusing Ed of using a backing track alongside his performance of ‘Castle on the Hill’, when in fact it is widely known he’s an expert with a loop pedal.

Come on now guys, let’s all get along.
