Eleven of the students who were killed in yesterday’s horrific high school shooting massacre in Florida have been named.
There were 17 confirmed fatalities from yesterday’s shooting, (February 14) at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which was carried out by former student, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz.
Among his victims were 11 students whose identities have now been revealed, according to the Miami Herald:
14-year-old Jaime Guttenberg.
Her father broke the news on Facebook, writing:
My heart is broken. Yesterday, Jennifer Bloom Guttenberg and I lost our baby girl to a violent shooting at her school.
We lost our daughter and my son Jesse Guttenberg lost his sister. I am broken as I write this trying to figure out how my family get’s through this.
We appreciate all of the calls and messages and we apologize for not reacting to everyone individually. Jen and I will be figuring things out today and so we ask that you respect out privacy.
We will be getting messages out later regarding visitation. Hugs to all and hold your children tight.

Martin Duque
14-year-old Duque was a freshman at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The news was broken by his older brother Miguel, who graduated last year from the same school.
Shaing the news on his Instagram account earlier today, he wrote:
Words can not describe my pain. I love brother Martin you’ll be missed buddy. I know you’re in a better place.
Duques forever man I love you junior!!! R.I.P Martin Duque!
Alyssa Alhadeff
Another first-year student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, 15-year-old Alhadeff was reported missing by her grandmother after the shooting.
Alyssa’s cousin, Ariella Del Quaglio said she’d died on Facebook, writing:
Many innocent souls were taken a few short hours ago. Among them we just got confirmation was my little cousin.
My heart is broke… not sure what i can even say I am at a loss for words.

Gina Montalto
Montalto was a 14-year-old freshman who was on the school’s winter guard team. She was reported as missing and not answering her phone.
Her death was later confirmed by her friends and family on social media.
Last night, Manuel Miranda, one of Gina’s colour guard instructors paid tribute to her.
Speaking to the Miami Herald Miranda said:
My heart is broken into pieces. I will forever remember you my sweet angel. She was the sweetest soul ever. She was kind, caring always smiling and wanting to help.

Nicholas Dworet
Senior student Nicholas Dworet had just been granted a swimming scholarship to the University of Indianapolis.
A journalist, Glenn Greenwald, shared the heartbreaking news via Twitter:

Luke Hoyer
Hoyer was said to have died while on the third floor of the school building. Members of his family shared the news on social media.
His uncle, Toni Brownlee wrote on Facebook:
This has devastated our family and we’re all in shock and disbelief. Our hearts are broken. Luke was a beautiful human being and greatly loved.
Also, pray for the other families whose loved ones were also murdered so cruelly.
Luke’s aunt, Mary Beth Stroud-Gibbs added:
Please pray for Luke Hoyer, he was a victim of the Florida shooting yesterday. We are a very close family and this loss is unthinkable for my niece, Gena Stroud Hoyer as well as everyone in our families. Luke was my brother, Eddie and Janice Stroud’s grandson and Gena’s youngest son. Please pray for Gena, Tom and their two older children, Abby Hoyer and Jake Hoyer.
Also please pray for my other niece, Joan Stroud Grant and her family Trey and Grant Cox. Joan is Gena’s sister and and our whole family is devastated by this senseless shooting that our young Luke lost his precious life in the Florida school shooting yesterday.
Our Luke was a precious child, who just went to school yesterday not knowing what was to come. We are all devasted and we now need all of your prayers for acceptance of this tragedy, understanding and healing our broken hearts.

Carmen Schentrup
A semi-finalist during last year’s National Merit Scholar, several friends of Schentrup confirmed her death the morning after the shooting via social media.

18-year-old Meadow Pollack
A senior student, Pollack was planning to enrol at Lynn University. Her death was confirmed on Thursday.
Her friend Gii Lovito wrote:

Joaquin Oliver
17-year-old Joaquin Oliver was born in Venezuela, he moved to the USA when he was three-years-old with his family and gained his citizenship only last year.
His girlfriend, Victoria González, confirmed he was killed in the massacre via her Instagram:
Alaina Petty
14-year-old Petty was a first-year student at the school who was confirmed dead by friends and family.
Her great aunt Claudette McMahon Joshi wrote:
There are no hashtags for moments like this, only sadness. Our hearts are with them and all the families touched by this tragedy.
Cara Loughran
Loughran was confirmed as a fatality in the shooting by a peer counsellor at her church.
Her neighbour wrote:
RIP Cara, and fly with the angels. You will be greatly missed, and we will always love you and celebrate your beautiful life.
Alex Schachter
Schachter was a marching band student and was confirmed dead by a former instructor as well as by the Congregation Beth Am in Longwood, Florida:

Faculty members at the school were also among the dead, confirmed were:
Scott Beigel
The 35-year-old geography teacher was said to have unlocked his classroom door to let scared students take shelter during Cruz’s massacre. Beigel was struck and killed by a bullet from Cruz’s AR-15 as he was closing the door.
Speaking to CNN, Kelsey Friend, one the students saved by Beige said:
When he opened the door, he had to relock it so that we could stay safe, but he didn’t get the chance.
Thank you for bringing and having this amazing person in life and giving him the power to be stronger than I could have ever been
Chris Hixon
An athletic director at the school, Hixon was pronounced dead by friends and family on Thursday. He’d previously worked as South Broward’s athletic director
Aaron Feis
The assistant football coach was labelled a ‘hero’ by his students after he sacrificed his life by shielding them from Cruz’s bullets.
The school football team tweeted:
He died a hero and he will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Aaron Feis is survived by his wife Melissa and their daughter.
Gunman Cruz, who acted alone, was arrested yesterday by local police in Florida shortly after the shooting.
He was immediately placed in police custody and charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
