Maye Musk – Elon’s mum – has been unveiled as the new face of CoverGirl aged 69, and she looks absolutely phenomenal.
The make-up brand announced fashion and beauty model Maye as the newest addition to their ‘line-up of fierce women leading the charge in breaking boundaries in beauty’.
Maye joins 24-year-old Nura Afia, the brand’s first hijabi ambassador, and 17-year-old James Charles, the first male CoverGirl, as well as celebrities, Zendaya, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.

Speaking to New York Times, she said:
I just love that CoverGirl wants to do diversity. They haven’t had a model this old in their campaigns.
I’m turning 70 in April of next year. I think that women will be really inspired to see that even at 69 you can get a beauty campaign.
Ageing has been good for me. You develop confidence, you’re able to handle the knocks a little easier. I model for my age. I’m not trying to hide it and say I’m 50. I’m so proud that I’m going be 70.
She said:
I don’t dye my hair. It’s so fabulous. I had brown hair for so long. I was always getting my roots done. Sometimes I did it myself because I couldn’t afford to go to a hair salon.
When I turned 60, I decided to see what colour I am underneath. I started dyeing my hair a very light blond and then I let it grow out. I cut it very short.
And what happened? Suddenly I have all these editorials and bookings, and everybody is loving it.
At 69, Maye is not alone in terms of being handed a beauty contract later in life.
L’Oréal’s portfolio includes the beautiful Jane Fonda, 79, Helen Mirren, 72, and Susan Sarandon, 70.
This new venture is the latest in her 50 years in the modelling business.
Maye has appeared on numerous magazine covers, she has starred in campaigns for the fashion chain Target, Virgin America and Clinique, and been in esteemed fashion mags, Vogue Italia, Vogue Korea and Vanity Fair.
She has also walked on the runway at New York Fashion Week.
You may also recognise her from Beyonce’s ‘Haunted’ music video which was released in 2013:
Maye has three children, Elon, the founder of PayPal and Tesla, Tosca, who is a filmmaker, and Kimbal, a founder of The Kitchen Community, a nonprofit that builds gardens in schools.
The mum-of-three revealed she doesn’t get special treatment when it comes to the new Tesla Model 3.
In an interview with The New York Times, Maye said she was in the very long line to receive a car:
I haven’t gotten the 3 yet. I’m at around 300,000 [on the waiting list]. Even though I have good connections, I can’t jump the line.
Congrats Mom! I love you.

Earlier this year Elon Musk rewarded a Tesla car owner who risked his life in order to save another driver.
41-year-old Manfred Kick was driving his Tesla Model S when he noticed a man in a Volkswagen Passat driving erratically along Germany’s Autobahn near Munich.
When he noticed the driver was unconscious, Kick pulled his car in front of the Passat and slowly braked in order to stop the car, Merkur reported.
Once the Tesla driver stopped the out-of-control car, he administered first aid while others called emergency services.
In appreciation, Tesla is providing all repair costs free of charge and expedited. https://t.co/D68HNJcCoQ

The story nearly ended well for both drivers – for Kick, there’s a total of 10,000 euros in combined damage according to Jalopnik.
And the 41-year-old would have had to pay it, if it weren’t for Elon.
I think we can all agree, this is one talented family.
