Emilia Clarke Says Final Game Of Thrones Scenes ‘F*cked Her Up’

Game of Thrones has messed with our heads and our hearts for the past seven years, and according to actor Emilia Clarke, the eighth and final season will be no different.

Throughout seven seasons we’ve seen the undead kill a dragon and reanimate it, a religious zealot burn a child to death, the worst wedding party ever, and Sean Bean getting his head lopped off – to be fair, we should’ve seen that last one coming.

However, Clarke who plays Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen (etc etc…) has said her final scenes of the show  ‘f***ed me up’.

The eighth and final season won’t be out until next year but during an interview for Vanity Fair, the Mother of Dragons gave us clue about what we can expect.

Speaking on her final scenes on Game of Thrones, Clarke said:

It fucked me up. Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is . . .

But before she could reveal anymore she stopped herself, a classic teaser tactic. Proof – just like the character she plays on the HBO epic – she is a shrewd tactician. All we can do is sit back and admire her.

Emila Clarke spoke about what it’s like stepping into the role of Daenerys Targaryen one last time during a recent press junket for her latest film Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Speaking to Good Morning America she revealed:

It really is the most heartbreaking thing to be filming the last of anything. I’ve become an emotional wreck on set. They’re like ‘Emilia…it’s okay,’ and I’m like, ‘But it’s the last time!’.

Clarke told Digital Spy:

People will scream, and people will say, ‘That’s exactly what I wanted,’. And some people will go, ‘Huh?’ — my mum, probably.

While the world of Westeros is a far cry away from the galaxy of Star Wars there’s one striking similarity between the two characters she plays. While she told VF Qi’ra in Solo… is ‘a much different sort of a character’ to Daenerys,  you’ll realise they both find common ground as survivors in an otherwise brutal and unrelenting world.

Speaking to UNILAD about Qi’ra’s backstory in Solo: A Star Wars Story, she says:

I think it’s quite a dark. I’m very serious when I say this, so dark it wouldn’t work in the realm of parental guidance because you can only imagine what someone in her position would have been forced to experience to get from where she was to where she is at the beginning.

So I think she used a lot of nouse to escape dying, and it was probably quite dark and those experiences shaped her into the character she was when Han meets her again.

The season seven finale of GoT will be remembered for a lot of things, the main talking point Daenerys and Jon Snow finally ‘getting it on’… you know, despite being RELATED!

Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington, revealed his sex scene with Clarke left him feeling ‘unnatural and strange’, he told Vanity Fair:

If you’ve known someone for six years and they’re best friends with your girlfriend, and you’re best friends with them, there is something unnatural and strange about doing a love scene.

We’ll end up kissing and then we’re just pissing ourselves with laughter because it’s so ridiculous.
