It’s that time of year again. A-level students across the country are picking up their results and finding out what the future holds for them – and in 2015, social media is their first port of call.
According to Sky News, in 2014, pass rates dropped for the first time in more than 30 years, with 98 per cent of exams scoring at least an E grade – down by 0.1 per cent.
However, if the trend continues this year, record number of students will still earn their spot on a university course following the Government’s decision to abolish the cap on the number of places offered by institutions – so if you didn’t get the results you were hoping for, it’s not all bad news.
As always, reactions were mixed among students, especially on Twitter, where thousands of young people vocalised their thoughts on that all-important piece of paper…
Some people were over the moon…

Some were just generally unhappy with what they achieved…
Yay me for being in that 1.9% of students to get a U #Alevelresults ?

I'm not too happy with my A Level results. At least two retakes are due, I feel, as well as another wine bottle or two.

But there were plenty of people dishing out hope to those who weren’t so happy, and rightly so, some of the world’s most successful people didn’t even go to university!
If your A level results aren't great, be cheered by the fact that I got a C and two Us. And I'm currently sitting in a villa in St Tropez.

Thinking of all those getting their A Level results today. God has amazing things in store for you, whatever you get
— Jimmy Dale (@jimmy_dale) August 13, 2015
fuck anyone who says a-level results are the be-all and end-all. be proud of the work you put in but know your worth lies elsewhere
— hedgehog o'brien (@curlybeach) August 13, 2015

Remember one thing, if you’re unhappy with your results, but you know you put the most you could into your studies, then go out and celebrate with the rest of your peers – you deserve it regardless.
If you just floated through without a care, well, you’ll probably be going out and getting lashed anyway. Happy days all around.
