Series Two of End of the F*cking World has begun filming, and everything is right with the world indeed.
This news was announced via the End of the F*cking World Instagram page, alongside some very telling references to Christmas. Could we be looking at a very merry festive release later this year?
The post showed a copy of the script for episode one of the upcoming season, alongside the following intriguing caption:
And a happy f***ing new year. Repost: @jessybarden Merry Christmas. See you soon.
Curious fans have of course taken to the comment section to figure out what the f*ck is going on.
One person pondered:
What does it mean? When does it come out?
Another Netflix detective mused:
In fact, does it come out at Christmas?
Produced by both Channel 4 and Netflix, viewers were gripped by the nihilistic blend of dark comedy and teen angst, and were left wanting more.
Although left on a frustratingly ambiguous note, the adored first series arguably wrapped up quite fittingly, and fans were worried they would be left dangling without their favorite misfit characters.
However, a tweet from the show’s Twitter account in August 2018 – which declared, ‘we’ll be f***ing back’ – put minds at ease.
Show creator Charlie Covell will reportedly be sticking around to write season two, which will continue to adapt Charles Forsman’s award winning graphic novel.
For those who have yet to watch this critically acclaimed and bingeworthy show, see if the official Netflix synopsis piques your interested:
Based on the award-winning graphic novel, adapted by acclaimed newcomer Charlie Covell, the eight episode first season follows James (Alex Lawther, Black Mirror) and Alyssa (Jessica Barden, Penny Dreadful) – a self-proclaimed psychopath and a foul-mouthed rebel fed-up with her boring life.
The two embark on a roadtrip to find a better life, and escape the impending doom of adulthood. As their chaotic journey unfolds, it becomes apparent that James and Alyssa have crossed a line and have no choice but to take it as far as they can…
As of yet, it is unclear what is next for James and Alyssa. However, we can no doubt expect the same sharp writing and pitch black wit which made running away with them so very fun the first time around.
Speculations aside, it is unclear when exactly season two of End Of The F*cking World will be coming down your chimney…
Season one of End Of The F*cking World is now available to stream on Netflix.
