Azealia Banks’ latest racist Twitter rant managed to piss off the whole of Britain. But she’s not getting away with it.
It all started when Azealia kicked off after she accused Zayn of copying her ideas for his new futuristic music video Like I Would. Trying to start a fight with anyone she can coax into an online war, she hurled racial slurs and homophobic remarks at Zayn.
They went a little something like this:
And somehow she dragged Britain into it:
And UK rappers:
This, unfortunately, is just a drop in the ocean compared to the vile insults she’s said in the last few years.
Since allowing her career to cruise into the gutter after the success of ‘212’ five years ago, Azealia has pretty much stopped being regarded as a musician – but she’s still constantly kept in the spotlight. Why? Because she’s a constant social media stream of racist, hurtful hatespeaking.
But being a disrespectful twat has consequences, and so Azealia Banks has had her set at London’s Born & Bred festival cancelled after calling UK rap ‘a disgrace’ and saying British rappers ‘never have swag’.
The star was due to headline on Sunday June 6, but organisers have since confirmed that she has been dropped.
In a statement released on Twitter, Rinse: Born & Bred organisers said they ‘celebrate inclusivity and equality’ (which Azealia obviously doesn’t understand):
Bet Azealia’s not too happy.
The announcement came shortly after people on social media called for Banks’ set to be cancelled, including BBC Radio 1Xtra hosts Jamz Supernova and DJ Target.
And Grime artist DJ Logan Sama also said he would boycott the festival if she was allowed to perform:
Banks then threatened to exercise her Second Amendment rights under the U.S. constitution – the right to bear arms – after fans warned the rapper to stay out the UK. As you do.
She wrote on Twitter: “Girl, I have armed security! I’m an American girl! I exercise my 2nd amendment rights EVERYWHERE I go!!”
Don’t think that’s how it works, Azealia.
Lily Allen also chimed in wondering why the police haven’t gotten involved:
While others just took the piss out of her music sales:
Either way, Britain has hit back big at Azealia. Her massively out-of-line Twitter gained the attention of many, with pretty much everyone agreeing she’s a racist piece of shit and shouldn’t be allowed into the UK.
I guess British fans won’t be able to see her perform her new single in London next month. Oh well. We’re seriously doubting anyone cares anymore.
