Jim Carrey has the public worried after he gave a strangely absurd interview at a red carpet event for New York Fashion Week.

The eccentric actor was approached by E! News’ Catty Sadler for a what should of been a run-of-the-mill, by-the-numbers red carpet interview.

But this being Jim Carrey nothing is ever ‘by-the-numbers’, however no one was expecting this strange behaviour from one of the most loved and colourful personalities in Hollywood.

Check out the bizarre interview below:

At the Harper’s Bazaar party in New York, which was meant to be celebrating ‘icons’, things got awkward the minute Sadler approached Carrey for an interview. He immediately spouted off that the whole event was ‘meaningless’.

He told her:

There’s no meaning to any of this.

So I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and here I am.

Credit to Sadler who was desperately trying to save this interview by pointing out the true meaning of the event, even pandering to him, claiming they’re celebrating icons such as himself. But trying to save this interview proved about as fruitful as using a sieve on the Titanic.

Carrey shot down her pandering, saying:

I don’t believe in personalities. I believe that peace lies beyond personalities, beyond invention and disguise, beyond the red ‘S’ you wear on your chest that makes bullets bounce off.

The encounter got even weirder when Sadler complimented Carrey’s outfit for the night, she attempted to get some information on what he was wearing.

However knowing Carrey, he probably cares little for fashion. He claimed he:

… didn’t get dressed up. There is no me. There’s just things happening.

Bizarre as his answers may have been it could be he’s just criticising the fashion industry and celebrity culture. Criticisms too intricate and subliminal for Sadler’s and our tiny heads.

Or he could just be really losing it and he needs an intervention.

Or we need one. Either way, we’d like to know more, Jim!
