Facebook have rolled out a ‘Safety Check’ feature for people to let friends and loved ones know they’re safe in the wake of the terrifying Paris terrorist attacks.
By heading to the Safety Check page on Facebook, you can see who on your friends list has checked in in the city. As people check in, the page will update automatically and keep a running tally of who is marked safe.
If you’re in Paris, you can mark yourself as safe or be marked safe by a friend, and the update will be added to your Facebook page. You can sign up to notifications that will alert you when people check in.
With France having declaring a State of Emergency as it tries to piece together the horror of the attacks, the Safety Check is going to become a hugely important feature over the course of the next few days.
