Fans were left shocked and devastated by the scene between Tony Stark and Peter Parker.

With a snap of his fingers, Thanos reduced billions of people across the universe to dust; including some of our most beloved Marvel heroes.

However, it was Spidey’s death which hurt the most. The bond between the pair was tragically apparent as Peter looked towards his mentor in sheer terror as the moment of his oblivion approached.

Now, it appears the young superhero’s demise could be even more upsetting than many fans originally thought…

Now, although it’s surely never a positive experience to be crumbled to heaps of ash by an egotistical Mad Titan; for many of the victims, their fate was as swift as it was brutal.

Thankfully, they didn’t have much of a chance to consider the finality of what was happening to them before their bodies were completely obliterated. In this regard, their deaths would have been, weirdly, comparably peaceful.

However, for poor, sweet Peter, this experience would have been much different, and far, far more traumatic.

Remind yourself of why Avengers: Infinity War is filling cinemas across the world below:

As we all know, Peter was a highly sensitive, intuitive character; with the ability to feel things others can’t, through his amazing Spidey senses.

Although this power proved useful when fighting crime, for an unstoppable, horrifying universe changing moment like this, would you really want to know?

Emotional scene just got sadderMarvel Studios

Early on in the movie, Peter looks alarmed as the hair on his arm stood bolt upright just as the Black Order Q-Ship hit Earth, showing his abilities to sense events before they happen.

While stranded on Titan with father figure Tony, we see the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man begin to panic. He tells Iron Man how he’s ‘not feeling so good’ before collapsing.

In his devastating final moments, we see Peter helplessly saying ‘I don’t wanna go’ over and over, as an already grief stricken Tony watches on in horror.

Seconds before he was taken from us forever – leaving Marvel fans everywhere sobbing into their popcorn – Peter showed bravery beyond his teenage years as Tony comforted him; reassuring him it would all be okay.

It now seems clear Peter knew what was about to happen and – worst of all for a super hero – he knew nothing could be done. He knew he had to go, even if every part of him wanted to resist.

Peter was acutely aware of his own impending death as well as those of countless others, all through the tingling of his Spidey senses.

This understanding has broken hearts anew, with many taking to Twitter to express their grief.

One person wept:

I just realized the only reason why Peter could have a reaction to what happened to him in IW was due to HIS SPIDER SENSE [sic]

Another sobbed:

Someone pointed out that Peter Parker felt more terrified than the rest when he faded because his spider sense made him aware of it ahead of time and all he could do was panic and wait and my heart broke even more. [sic]

Can we ever watch Avengers:Infinity War in the same way again?
