First things first… Tara Reid has fans? People like what they like I guess. But yes, Ms Reid does have fans and they seem worried for her after a seemingly bizarre Television interview.
The actor, who rose to fame in college-frat comedies like American Pie, Road Trip and Van Wilder: Party Liaison, worried viewers who accused her of ‘slurring’ through an interview on Channel 9’s Today Extra.
Reid, who has previously admitted to struggling with addiction, appeared via video link to promote the latest Sharknado film – there are SIX of these bloody things!
The 42-year-old was introduced as ‘the American sweetheart who quickly became one of Hollywood’s biggest party girls’. What a great way to start a press interview.. said no one ever.
But there was no getting away from the fact Reid, who was based in New York for the appearance, appeared fatigued to say the least. If she was appearing around 9:30 AM in Sydney, it would have been roughly 7:30 PM in NYC, FYI.
Critics and concerned watches suggested Reid zoned-in and out of the interview often giving incoherent answers and speaking in slow tones. She eventually admitted The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time was ‘beyond… it’s my favourite one. It’s so ridiculous, it’s so bad that it’s good’, according to news.com.au.
I’ve not watched any of the Sharknado films but judging from what people have told me about them, they’re certainly no Snakes on a Plane.
Reid went on to say:
It’s just out of control, like, the movie, it… it does, it takes every step to the next level.
It… it really makes sense. From the first one. It really does it. It makes, like, a complete circle. I do really think it’s gonna be the end.
At one point in the interview she told hosts, David Campbell and Deborah Knight, how :
One time when I was visiting in Australia I took a helicopter over, we were landing in a hotel, and as we took the helicopter over we went, like, really low down and I saw the netting.
And where the netting was, it was unbelievable, there was so many stingrays and sharks. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. And then you see like, little kids playing on the beach, I’m like, ‘oh my god, do they have any idea what’s on the other side of those nets?’
I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. It was the Gold Coast.
I couldn’t find a trailer for The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time, so the trailer for Sharknado 5: Global Swarming will have to do:
During the interview, someone in the background can be heard laughing and whispering as Reid was giving her answers.
Back in May, she sparked health concerns after posing in a bikini while on holiday.
In an Instagram post, she wrote:
Having the best time with my girls in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
The photo left her followers worried over her weight, telling her she looked ‘skinny’. People also slated anybody ‘encouraging’ her by saying she looks good.
