US intelligence have revealed that the Manchester Arena bomber’s family, warned security that their son was ‘dangerous’.
22-year-old terrorist Salman Abedi, was responsible for the deaths of 22 people and injured more than 100 when he detonated a bomb at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on Monday night.
Speaking to NBC News, a U.S. intelligence official stated that members of Abedi’s family had warned security officials about him.
Richard Engel, the NBC foreign correspondent tweeted to say that there were previous warnings about Salman.
This latest reported leak has come after Amber Rudd, the Home Secretary, warned the United States not to reveal details about the Manchester terror attack ahead of their British counterparts, reports the Express.
Rudd has stated that their interference has been ‘irritating’.
Salaman’s father has been quoted by Bloomberg as saying his son made regular visits to Libya, yet was ‘shocked’ by his actions:
As we were discussing news of similar attacks earlier, he was always against those attacks, saying there’s no religious justification for them.
I don’t understand how he’d have become involved in an attack that led to the killing of children?
Every father knows his son and his thoughts, my son does not have extremist thoughts.
Meanwhile a police source has warned the Manchester Evening News that authorities believe the bomb maker is still at large.
They were quoted as saying:
They don’t waste bomb makers. The reason we have gone to critical is because he is still out there and the fear is that he will strike again before they get caught.
The terror attacks have claimed the lives of 22 people including many children.
