FBI Agent Accidentally Shoots Man When Gun Falls Out During Backflip

Despite being Britsh, and therefore terrified of firearms, I can agree there are some places it’s acceptable to bring a gun, a shooting range for example or a war zone.

I think it’s fair to say most people would say it’s inappropriate to bring a gun to a church or indeed a nightclub – even if you’re an FBI agent.

Shockingly though one FBI agent did just that and even worse he managed to accidentally shoot someone in possibly the stupidest way possible.

Basically while showing off his admittedly sweet dance moves at the Mile High spirits distillery and tasting bar, at around 12.45am on Saturday, the unknown agent performed a backflip.

Unfortunately, he hadn’t properly holstered his gun so as he flipped it fell out of his pocket and when he went to pick it up he accidentally shot someone in the leg.

It’s understood that the agent’s victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, 9News reports .

Police are now investigating the shooting and are understood to have taken him to Denver Police Headquarters before later releasing him to an FBI supervisor.

We can’t imagine that was a fun meeting the boss and it kind of puts into perspective my own worries about telling my editor that I lost my mouse.

Marika Putnam a Community Resource Officer confirmed that an investigation is continuing adding that any charges will be determined by the Denver district attorney’s office.

A Denver FBI spokeswoman declined to comment on the incident while the investigation is ongoing.

Now as I mentioned earlier I’m British so my understanding of how gun’s work is basically drawn from playing Call of Duty for 15 minutes before getting bored and watching action films.

It was my understanding that guns had to have a round chambered and the safety off to fire?

While there’s some debate about whether it’s acceptable to keep a round in the chamber even the most ardent gun nut would admit that not having the safety on is a no-no.

Admittedly it could have failed when the gun hit the ground but that doesn’t excuse not having the gun properly holstered.

Even worse why did he grab the trigger when he picked it up? Even I know that you don’t touch the trigger unless you intend to fire your weapon so surely a trained FBI agent should know the same.

I’m not the only one with these questions, people on Twitter are outraged as well…

There’s also been some discussion about why the FBI agent didn’t go help the injured man instead of just wandering off with his hands up as if to say ‘I didn’t do it’.

For the record FBI agents supposedly undergo 110 hours of firearm training before they’re qualified, this agent must have missed the class where they went over how to pick up and carry a gun.

I’m guessing that he’s dreading heading into work tomorrow…
