The harrowing moment two men and two women were killed while on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld in Australia was captured on CCTV and is being reviewed and investigated by police.

The ride reaches speeds of up to 45km per hour, and it is thought that the victims died after colliding with another raft which flipped the raft over, crushing them and trapping them underwater, reports the Daily Mail.

The victims were later identified as Kate Goodchild, 32, her brother Luke Dorsett, 35, his partner Roozi Araghi, 38, and their friend, Cindy Low, 42.

Inspector Todd Reid told the media:

We are now working with the park to determine how this tragic incident has occurred. There is CCTV footage available and that will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

There is also a rumour that the rapids ride had broken down earlier in the day, however this hasn’t been confirmed by the park.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told 7News:

Today, the focus will turn to the ride itself and what policies and procedures were in place for that particular ride.

As the investigation continues our thoughts go out to all those affected in any way.
