We’ve all been eagerly awaiting whatever scraps of news we can sweep up regarding Pokemon GO, the upcoming augmented reality mobile game from Niantic. Now, it appears some wild footage has found its way to the internet, and it’s looking good.
The footage comes from YouTuber Eric F, and was reportedly shot at Niantic CEO John Hanke’s presentation this weekend at SXSW. It’s unclear whether it’s legit or not, but other sites seem to agree the voice in the video definitely sounds like Hanke himself.
In the video (which you can watch below) Hanke discusses the game – in which players are encouraged to head out into the real world to find and capture Pokemon – and demonstrates how one might catch an Ivysaur.
Try to ignore the fact he’s using a Master Ball, I’m sure it’s just for the purposes of the demo.
Pokemon GO enters its “field test” phase this month in Japan.
We don’t have a release date set in stone yet, but it should be with us before the end of 2016.
Whenever it does launch, it’ll be available as a free download with in-app purchases. Now everybody send good vibes to Niantic so that we can get a beta here in the UK.
