The first hilarious trailer for the upcoming buddy cop movie CHIPS has just dropped and it looks hysterically outrageous.
Based on the American TV series of the same name, the film stars Dax Shepard, who also directs, as Officer Jon Baker a rookie California motorcycle cop and Michael Peña as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, an undercover FBI agent sent to investigate dirty cops.
Despite being assigned to the simple world of highway patrol, both Baker and Poncherello find themselves embroiled in the schemes of sadistic ex-cop, turned car stealing mastermind, Vic Brown (Vincent D’Onofrio).
Fans of the original series will know that CHIPS isn’t some hardcore Martin Scorsese-style crime drama though, it’s a comedy and if this trailer’s anything to go by it looks like Shepard’s turned the hilarity up to eleven!
There’s also plenty of action for audiences to get their teeth into, with explosions, stunts and even an accidental decapitation, don’t worry Poncherello says it’s a win.
Joining our two bumbling heroes in their battle against Brown is an all-star cast including; Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar, Vida Guerra, and Kristen Bell.
CHIPS is released in UK cinemas on 24th March.
