The first official photos of Prince Louis, at home, have been released, and they’re just as adorable as you would expect!

Yesterday evening (May 5), Kensington Palace released two photographs taken by the Duchess of Cambridge herself – of Prince Louis – following his birth on April 23.

As you may have noticed, Louis is dressed in outfits which have previously been seen on his older siblings – Princess Charlotte, who recently turned three, and Prince George.

It’s well known Kate has always had a rather thrifty approach when it comes to clothes, wearing outfits several times, although being part of the royal family, she probably has no need to.

Despite being criticised in the past for this, to us, it seems to be a perfectly sensible approach. It’s also logical for Kate to do the same when it comes to dressing her children.

Kids grow quick, meaning outfits only fit them for a couple of months, and so it just makes sense to reuse them on younger children, rather than buy new ones.

Of course there’s none of the usual wear-and-tear as you can see in this cute photo as both Charlotte and Louis’ outfits look immaculate:

While the first image shows Princess Charlotte giving her new baby brother a kiss on the forehead, the second shows Prince Louis at just three-days-old lying on a white pillow.

In this particular photograph, he’s wearing the same outfit his sister was dressed in when the first photos of her were released.

The images were also released via Kensington Palace’s Instagram page captioned:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace.‬

This image was taken on May 2, on Princess Charlotte’s third birthday.‬ ‪The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday.‬

Prince Louis’ name was revealed to the public on April 27, four days after Kate gave birth at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London, which is known for its extreme privacy.

A tweet by Kensington Palace revealed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to name their son, Louis Arthur Charles:

Prior to the birth of their third child, it’s understood neither Kate or Will knew the sex of the child.

For the first time in history, the sex of the latest addition to the royal family would not change who’s next in line for the throne.

Thanks to 2013’s Succession to the Crown Act, male heirs now do not take precedence over female ones.

After the birth of Prince Louis, Prince Harry has moved down to sixth in line, being bumped from the number five spot.

Congratulations to the royal family!
