New terrifying photos from the set of IT: Chapter Two have hit the web revealing everyone’s favourite shape-shifting, child eating, sewer-dwelling clown, Pennywise.
The photos, which were reportedly taken in Toronto, show Bill Skarsgard back in his hideous clown make-up and costume, holding his signature red balloon and floating above the no doubt terrified cast and crew.
Well, I say floating, he’s actually suspended in the air by wires, which will presumably be removed in post-production to create the illusion of flight, but I digress.
IT took the world by storm last year generating more than $700 million at the box office as horror fans flocked to the theatre to see a film described by at least one critic as an instant classic.
The film, which adapted Stephen King’s scariest story of the same name, told the story of the Losers Club, a group of young outcasts who find themselves the target of a vicious cannibalistic clown.
Despite the odds, the Losers overcome the odds and manage to defeat the shape-shifting clown with the power of friendship and imagination (it’s better than it sounds).
Unfortunately, however, you can’t keep a good clown down and the film teased that Pennywise may not have been defeated forever.
Now IT: Chapter Two will see the Losers Club return to their childhood town 27 years later to take down the clown for good, and put a stop to his cycle of violence.
Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Jay Ryan, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean and Teach Grant are playing the adult versions of The Losers Club.
Now the cast has all grown up Bill Skarsgard’s reportedly having a much different time on set compared to the first film.
It’s well known now that Bill hid himself away during filming on IT so the kids would be totally unprepared when his sinister clown arrived on set.
This time though he’s hanging out with the cast, which is probably nice for him but terrifying for the adult cast.
He told Collider:
It’s almost like I’m re-adapting myself. The character became very iconic. Pennywise became a star.
You see Instagram posts of people dressing up or dressing their kids as Pennywise for Halloween. It’s all over the place… So, it became this completely universal thing, outside of the thing.
Off camera, I get to hang out with the entire adult cast now. It’s weird and it’s surreal because some of them are really big stars and they’re coming in to your thing. They’re stepping into the thing that me and Andy and the kids did. They’re joining the band, in a way.
They’re all really cool and talented people, so I think they will bring a lot to the table.
Warner Bros will be expecting big things from IT: Chapter Two, the first film is the most profitable horror film of all time and the fourth highest-grossing R-rated film ever.
Here’s hoping they can replicate that spectacular success.
IT: Chapter Two and Pennywise the Dancing Clown will creep their way into cinemas on September 6, 2019.
