At least five people have died and seven are injured after a high speed train derailed and smashed into a canal near Strasbourg in France.
Local press reported the train caught fire before overturning and landing in the Marne-Rhine canal. Passengers have been evacuated from the scene by helicopter.
These pictures from the scene near Eckwersheim in the east of France show the shocking extent of the damage to the TGV 2369 test train, with the charred remains of several overturned carriages and a couple submerged in the lake.
As of this time, there have been no links between this and the serial terror attacks in Paris last night, which have killed at least 128 people.
