Friends Ryon Edwards and Zeke Murphy are taking a slightly different approach to tackling Hurricane Irma.
So far, their event has proved enormously popular – over 26,000 people will be attending, with a further 56,000 showing interest in showing the ‘goofy’ storm who’s boss.
According to the Shoot At Hurricane Irma event description:
YO SO THIS GOOFY ??LOOKING WINDY HEADASS NAMED IRMA SAID THEY PULLING UP ON US???, LETS SHOW IRMA THAT WE SHOOT FIRST ???
However, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office is understandably, strongly against the idea.
Floridian authorities are desperately trying to keep people safe during the impending catastrophe.
Having people out in the open firing bullets into the eye of the storm goes against all sensible advice and could lead to further deaths.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office issued a warning tweet to those thinking of attending the event, making the following plea:
To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects.
The Sheriff’s Office advised they’re currently preparing for the ‘worse case scenario’ as they brace for the category four hurricane to hit Florida.
Let’s just hope people heed the warning and understand the graveness of the situation.
Nobody should risk their life just for a ‘wacky’ event.
