Broward County Sheriff's Office The injured Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student who took five bullets to protect people around him has returned home from hospital.
Anthony Borges, known as ‘the real Iron Man’, barricaded himself and fellow classmates in a classroom during the mass shooting on 14 February that killed 17 students and teachers at the high school in Parkland, Florida.
As he held the door closed with his body, the 15-year-old was shot five times, saving the well-being of at least 20 others.
Over the course of his gruelling stay in hospital. Borges has had nine surgeries and a third of a lung removed.
PAAs reported by Vice News, He had previously been released but had to go back after doctors located what they suspected to be an infection in his abdomen.
Although he struggles to speak on his road to recovery, Borges is getting there slowly but surely.
Shortly after the attack, Broward County Sheriff visited young Borges as he lay in hospital recovering from the attack.

Carlos Rodriguez, a student at the school, told ABC News that he survived only because of Anthony’s heroism.
As the gunfire echoed through the halls of building 12 at the Florida school on Wednesday, Anthony and his classmates tried to hide.
Anthony was the last of 20 students to enter a room, and was trying to lock the door when he was shot, according to Carlos.
But he did not move; he held his ground in the doorway, and placed his body between the bullets and his fellow classmates. None of his classmates were injured as a result of Anthony’s actions.

The attack left 17 students and members of staff dead after gunman Nikolas Cruz walked onto the school premises with an AR-15 rifle.
Just a few weeks after the shooting, lawmakers in Florida passed a $400 million gun control and school safety bill in defiance of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
The legislation raises the minimum age to purchase any firearm from 18 to 21 and it imposes a ‘three-day waiting period on gun purchases’.
GettyIt also funds school police officers and mental health counsellors, while allowing ‘local school districts and sheriffs to arm certain school personnel’.
The legislation passed with a vote of 67 to 50.
Lawmakers reportedly looked up into the public gallery and applauded Andrew Pollack, whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the school shooting.
