It’s happening. The former hosts of the long-running BBC show Top Gear have started filming their new show. We still don’t know what it’s called, but we’re excited!

Jeremy Clarkson tweeted a picture of the “skeleton crew” from set and there’s a few nice clues in there for what’s on the horizon.

It looks like we’re going to be getting the “Great Hypercar Showdown” that was promised near the end of the hosts’ run on Top Gear. The trio used to tease us with the idea of a showdown between a LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and a Porsche 918 Spyder.

Well, have a look at the tweet. It looks promising…

This would be a HUGE way to open their new show. It never happened previously because of the hosts leaving and the sacking of Clarkson, and partly because the different carmakers kept changing their demands e.g. Ferrari only wanted their hypercar used on a track in Italy.

Perhaps a whole new set of deals and contracts has changed the conditions quite significantly.

The move to Amazon came after the BBC refused to renew Clarkson’s contract following a nasty fight with producers. May and Hammond then bowed out to follow Clarkson. It’s the chemistry of this trio that we all loved, so it’s grand to have them together after all the turbulent times.

The new show is set to air sometime in 2016.
