After being inundated by trolls, the administrator of Kate and Gerry McCann’s Facebook account has reopened the account thanks to an outpouring of love and support from the public.

The Facebook account, Official Find Madeleine Campaign, was switched off by the account administrator due to the hate messages directed at the couple.

Now, warning they will ‘continue to turn the page off if we receive hateful posts’, the account has been reactivated and is fully operational.

The post has since received many messages of support and hope that missing Madeleine McCann will be found.

One Facebook user wrote:

I am writing with support for the family after this renewed onslaught which is inhumane and terribly damaging and hurtful. I will continue to hold out for you all, and hope the biggest hope, that your daughter will be returned to you one day. Sending much love. X

The distressed web chief of the Find Maddie Campaign account needed ‘to take a break’ after trolls and false stories began ‘taking a toll’ on the search for Madeleine McCann.

The three-year-old had vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were dining nearby with pals.

In six weeks, the McCann’s will face the 10-year anniversary of her disappearance.

This comes just days after people in the public eye – such as Katie Hopkins and Marco Pierre White Jnr – have denounced Gerry and Kate.

Scotland Yard has spent nearly £13 million – and granted an extra £85,000 in recent weeks – but has so far failed to unearth any new clues as to Madeleine’s whereabouts.
