Just a matter of hours ago, the Internet viral superstar, CopperCab – most well known for the infamous ‘Ginger Have Souls’ video – came out as transgender, announcing her transition online.
But the YouTuber now known as Claire, has just posted a ten-minute video documenting her progress and giving countless reasons as to why she has made the transition, while also speaking about how hard it has been.
Claire also speaks about her struggles with anxiety, depression and bullying throughout the clip, which is incredibly different to what we’re used to from CopperCab.
In the clip, the self-confessed ‘crazy character of the Internet’, says:
I know a lot of you are going to make fun of me. I know a lot of you are going to think that I’m joking. But this is the hardest video I’ve ever made. Because I’m not.
I haven’t made in five months because I’m going through HRT. I’m Transgender. I’m not going to pretend any more. This will probably be my last video on YouTube but I felt I had to do this because I need to face this and you need to know who I am.
I hope you can all learn to accept me, although most of you probably won’t. This is me. My name is Claire. And this is the beginning of my life. Wish me luck.
Claire also makes reference to Caitlyn Jenner claiming she ‘helped me out a lot’ despite it being ‘cliché’.
Claire originally found fame back in 2010 after posting a ranty video in retaliation to an episode of South Park in which Cartman claimed that ginger haired people have no souls.
The video went incredibly viral, attaining over 40 million views, and cemented her status in the world of YouTube.
CopperCab’s new decision is certainly a brave one and we would like to take this opportunity to wish her all the best.
