Emily Culhane has seen her story go viral since she posted an email from her former employers on Electric Picnic’s Facebook page on Tuesday, and has spoken to The Eoghan McDermott Show about her boss telling her not to go to the festival.

Given the university graduate had already shelled out €220 for her ticket, she decided to go anyway, and was horrified to receive an email telling her that her p45 was in the post.

Emily spoke about her sacking, and claimed:

When I asked for the time off she said, ‘If you cared about your job you would sell your ticket’.

I panicked and said, ‘I don’t think I’ll do that’. She just said again that if I cared I would sell them.

That was on Saturday and I got an email from them on Tuesday. I wasn’t rostered to work or anything, she hadn’t made the roster. People online have been saying I probably didn’t show up but sure it hasn’t even happened yet.

The email just said, ‘Here is your payslip and the P45 will be sent out in the morning.

Obviously that was shocking for the music lover, and she was relieved to see the job offers roll in after employers heard of her plight.

She spoke about her new job offers, and added:

One was a bar, one is a cafe and one is a recruitment job.

[It] just shows you can turn anything into something good in the end.
