A young man filmed himself driving at speed moments before he lost control of his vehicle.
As he drives the car in Providence, Rhode island, the unidentified man puts his foot to the floor, accelerating to well beyond safe and legal speeds.
The video – streamed as it happened on Facebook Live – captures the vehicle’s speed climb from 37mph to a staggeringly fast 115mph, which is 45mph over the maximum speed limit in America.
Three minutes into the video, it suddenly cuts out and the image of the driver’s wrecked vehicle appears.
The video is captioned:
A Driver in Providence, Rhode Island filmed himself driving at speeds over 115 mph while weaving through highway traffic before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into the back of a garbage truck.
The driver captures a moment many of us will have seen on our Snapchat feeds: Our friends driving, signing along to music and filming themselves at the same time.
But this incident – a shocking example of when modern society’s vanity and exhibitionism collides with reckless abandon – should serve as a warning to all drivers to concentrate on the roads and stay safe.
After all, this individual’s behaviour put so many lives at risk.
