Anxiety is something that can affect you at any given time, it has no timetable.
It’s estimated that in the UK currently there are six million people who suffer from the disorder, so the chances are you know someone who has anxiety.
It can be an extremely difficult condition to manage at the best of times, so it’s so important that the nearest and dearest to you can offer you a little reassurance in your time of need.
Callie Theodore shared a Facebook post which has since gone viral about anxiety impacts on life.
It was straight from the heart and described her experience with anxiety and how it affects her romantic relationship.
Her post, which has had over 136,000 shares, speaks of how important it is to find someone who ‘doesn’t make feeling like loving you is a job’.
In the post, Callie explains that she texted her boyfriend to check if they were all okay, and his four word response ‘very much so honey’ meant everything to her.
Callie said she decided to share this conversation on Facebook because she wanted others who are in a dark place to know they aren’t alone.
She also has some advice for those who are dating someone with anxiety.
Speaking to Refinery29, Callie said:
Always communicate when you’re feeling anxious and allow your partner to comfort you. You don’t want to keep your negative thoughts bottled up until they unleash. Don’t settle for someone who doesn’t even attempt to understand you.
Words that we can all probably live by.
If you or a loved one have been affected by anxiety, there is support out there.
