Shocking footage has emerged of dozens of people escaping from the Bataclan Concert Hall in Paris, where at least 80 people were killed by terrorist gunmen.
Several gunshots are heard as the harrowing images shows concert-goers rushing out of the music venues emergency exits in a mass panic. This is after special forces stormed the music venue, with several gunshot exchanges being heard in the background.
Three people are hanging from the second floor of the building, as others desperately try to escape. Towards the end of their ordeal they’re eventually pulled up and two bodies can be seen being dragged by passers-by away from the venue at the end of the footage.
The attack on the concert hall was by far the deadliest of the six terrorist gun and bomb attacks across Paris last night, with reports varying across several news outlets on the death toll- varying from 127 to 153, but this is still rising.
Six different locations were targeted on a night where thousands of residents, football fans and tourists were at restaurants, pubs and watching the International football friendly between France and Germany at the Stade De France.
1,500 people packed out the concert hall to watch American rock band Eagles of Death Metal, with one of the concert-goers Julien Pearce telling CNN that terrorists were shooting at the audience for several minutes as attackers remained completely silent.
He said:
It was a bloodbath. People yelled, screamed, it lasted for 10 minutes. Ten horrific minutes where everybody was on the floor covering their head. When I was getting out I saw 20 to 25 bodies lying on the floor, people were very badly injured by gunshot wounds. It was just horrible.
The band, Eagles of Death Metal also confirmed over Facebook that they the band and crew will still not fully accounted for.
Michael Dorio, brother of a member of the band that was playing at the Bataclan concert, said he spoke to Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Dorio about 20-30 minutes after the attack. “He said he had been performing and heard the gunshots. They stopped playing and hit the deck and went backstage and exited,” Michael Dorio told CNN.
A state of emergency has been declared by French president Francois Hollande and he has called Friday night’s almost simultaneous attacks as ‘horrifying’ and ‘sickening’. He vowed to wage a “merciless” fight against terrorism.
