Here’s How Much Julia Roberts Makes In One Day

Considering Julia Roberts is an A-list movie star, we expect her paycheques to be pretty big. But not this big.

The 48-year-old recently earned $750,000 (£517,870) a day for her latest film, Mothers Day.

What’s crazier is that she didn’t have a lead role. And for the four-day shoot, she earned $3 million (just under £2.1 million), The Independent reports.

While that’s definitely a shocking amount, it’s not that surprising if you look at some of Robert’s previous paycheques.

Universal Pictures

For her role in Valentine’s Day, she received $3 million for a six minute appearance. And at the height of her career in the 2000s, she earned $20 million for her lead role in Erin Brockovich – making her the first actress to command that much for a film.

Basically, she’s mega rich.

And not every actor gets that much money – only a select few A-listers have joined the ’20 million club’ – as dubbed by Hollywood Reporter – including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington. Given the sheer power of their names, you can see why they’re paid so much.

And if you really want to feel bad about your salary, even surpassing Roberts is Jennifer Lawrence – who is currently the highest paid actress in Hollywood right now. Between June 2014 and June 2015, she earned $52 million (just over £35,800,000).

However, neither Roberts’ nor Lawrence’s salary compares to Robert Downey Junior’s – who made $80million between June 2014 and June 2015 for his role as Iron Man.

In the interest of pay inequality, the average income of an adult in the UK is £21,000 according to HM Treasury budget analysis, or, £27,456 according to monster.co.uk.

Quite a difference, but we’ll go with the latter – you would have to work 75 years (and not spend a penny) just to make Julia Roberts made in four days.

Absolutely crazy.
