Less than a week after news broke of Anthony Rapp’s sexual misconduct allegations against Kevin Spacey, another male has come forward.

In a statement, Spacey apologised for his actions and also used it as an opportunity to tell the world he was now ‘going to live as a gay man’.

Anthony Rapp recalled how the House of Cards actor, invited a then 14-year-old Rapp to his Manhattan apartment for a party in 1986 and found him alone, watching TV in a bedroom before proceeding to lay him on the bed and lie on top of the young boy.

Now, the son of Richard Dreyfuus – who starred in films such as Jaws, The Goodbye Girl and Close Encounters – has recounted the allegation when he was a high school senior.

Harry Dreyfuss, writing for Buzzfeed News, says the incident occurred in 2008, when his father was appearing in a play, Complicit, which was directed by Spacey, at the Old Vic theatre in London.

Harry recalls how the three of them were in Spacey’s London apartment with he and Spacey – now 58 – sat together on a couch.

Harry writes:

I was unable to process what was happening – my dad and I were pretending to be lovers in a play while Kevin Spacey was trying to seduce me and all the while in real life I was a hapless, straight virgin who just wanted to become a famous actor.

Over the course of about 20 seconds, centimetre by centimetre, Kevin crawled his hand from my thigh over toward my crotch.

Looking into his eyes, I gave the most meager shake of my head that I could manage.

Harry described how he didn’t want to alert his father because Kevin Spacey was his father’s boss at the time – also writing how he was worried about harming his own career.

Harry alleges Spacey eventually removed his hand from his crotch, but was unsure as to how long the hand had remained on there for.

Harry continued:

What I do remember is that, other than being a shy kid who obviously admired Kevin Spacey a lot, I never once gave him a signal that I would want to be with him in that way.

Harry revealed he went through ‘mental gymnastics’, trying to portray the incident as humorous when describing it to friends:

If I could laugh at it, then surely I was not a victim. As a young storyteller from a family dedicated to seeing the funny side of the absurd, this was my way of defanging the whole thing.

What I see now is that when it comes to sexual abuse, there is no such thing as a ‘minor’ assault.

Richard Dreyfuss didn’t see the alleged incident take place due to his focus on the script and Harry only told him about it, ‘four or five’ years later:

He was furious and I spent the rest of the evening ensuring him that it wasn’t a big deal and that I would be mortified if he did anything about it.

Richard tweeted in support of his son:

I love my son @harrydreyfuss more than I could explain with all the words in the world. And I am so incredibly proud of him right now.

However, Bryan Freedman, Spacey’s lawyer, said in response to Buzzfeed:

Let me be clear, Mr. Spacey absolutely denies the allegations.

On Thursday, Spacey’s representatives said he was ‘taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment.’

Netflix announced on Friday night production of House of Cards would not continue as long as Spacey was involved.
