A dog whose owner rescued her from the streets of India has become a word traveller.

Rochelle Lucas first met her little doggy Kala when she spotted her outside of her office while on a lunch break.

Despite there being lots of street dogs it was Kala who seemed special to Rochelle and a bond quickly grew between the two.

Rochelle told The Dodo:

There were a few street dogs near the office, but she stood out. She was quite thin and had huge brown eyes.

Her eyes are captivating and have a way of drawing you in. After a couple of weeks, Sonal and I started to feed her.

We would save some of our dinner, place it in a plastic container and take it to her when we saw her on our walk.

Over time the pair fell in love and Rochelle started to spend time with Kala outside of her lunch breaks playing with her before work.

She began to ask people about the young dog to see if she had an owner and discovered she was born on the street near the office, and was somewhere around two-years-old.

After five months of getting to know Kala, Rochelle and her husband started making moves to adopt her after they came back from a brief trip but things changed when they realised that the dog was pregnant.

Authorities planned on having Kala and her puppies euthanized so they immediately picked her up and took her and her puppies to a local shelter where the dogs were cared for until they were old enough to be separated.

Kala then finally moved in with Rochelle.
