Matthew Perry definitely wasn’t there for Justin Trudeau.
Back before Perry was Chandler on Friends and Trudeau was Canada’s national treasure, the two attended school together – and they didn’t exactly see eye to eye.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Perry revealed that back when he was 12-years-old, he and a friend rounded on Trudeau, who was a couple of years younger than them at the time.
The reason behind the beating has faded over the years, but the 47-year-old actor imagines this was a case of ‘pure jealousy,’ since Trudeau was sportsy.
Watch the video below:
At the time, Justin’s father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, was prime minister, but his son was oddly unprotected back in the day – very unlike Barron Trump now.
Perry continued:
I’m not bragging about this. This is terrible. I was a stupid kid and I didn’t want to beat him up. In fact, I think at some point I tried to turn it into love-play…
But I think I was rather instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming Prime Minister. I think he said, ‘I’m going to rise above this and become Prime Minister.’
And so he did.
Anyone else think Friends should come back for a ‘The One Where Chandler Bing Beat Up The Canadian Prime Minister’ episode?
