An Instagram influencer has come under fire for smashing the nose off a 200-year-old statue in a desperate attempt to gain more followers on the social media platform.

Model Julia Słońska can be seen laughing before senselessly defacing the historic angel sculpture in Swiss Valley Park, shared the video on her friend’s Instagram account.

At the time of posting, the statue-smashing social media user had 5,900 followers – before promptly removing the video from her friend’s page and deleting her personal Facebook account in the wake of the huge online backlash.

It is believed that Słońska filmed the vandalism to help build her social following – which seriously backfired with many online users calling the antisocial act a complete disregard for history.

But don’t worry – karma came right back around and bit her on the bank balance.

Reports have emerged the influencer has since been dropped from an advertising campaign, in response to the outrageous footage.

mBank, Poland’s first fully-online banking service, published a statement disassociating themselves with the model – and condemning her actions.

A spokesperson for mBank shared on Instagram:

We definitely do not support such behaviour, and the appropriate services should deal with it. As for the responsibility for what the actress does many weeks after the completed photos are taken – we cannot be responsible for the individual choices of such people. In this case, it’s a role for carers. We do not plan to involve this girl in the next spots.

To which the influencer responded with a cryptic message stating her reason for damaging the statue is a ‘private affair’.

Translated from Polish, she said:

I’m so stupid. I will not say what was driving me, why I did it, because it is more of a private affair, but I really want to apologise to everyone.

Not posting on her Instagram account since the incident, hundreds of her followers have expressed their shock and disgust at her the behaviour.

Are the council still dishing out ASBOs? If so, I couldn’t think of a more deserving recipient.
