A man returned home to find his house had been broken into, but soon realised the intruder hadn’t stolen anything; instead, they’d tidied up.

Nate Roman was terrified when he realised his home in Marlborough, Massachusetts, had been broken into after his five-year-old son spotted the back door was open.

The 44-year-old silently entered his home, worried about what he might find, but quickly realised his house was in a better state than when he left it.

The home invader – rather than stealing anything – had made all of the beds, tidied up his son’s stuffed animals, and even left an origami rose on the toilet paper.

I mean, you can’t get much better service than that.

Roman said, as per ABC7 News:

It was terrifying to know someone was in your house. They scrubbed everything down. They did the shower, did the toilets.

In fact, every single room in the house had been scrubbed down and cleaned – except for the kitchen. Confused and unsure what to do, the dad called the police.

The father he was ‘immediately worried that someone was in the house,’ and so calling the police seemed like the best option.

He explained:

Nothing had been taken, nothing. Other than just being rearranged and cleaned and put away, put straight, that was the biggest thing.

The Marlborough Police Department responded to Roman’s call and confirmed officers are taking the case very seriously, but currently have no leads or suspects.

Was it the case of a reverse robbery, or a ‘pay it forward’ kind of thing? Or was it, as Roman believes, a cleaning service that may have got the wrong address and gone to the wrong house?

The dad thinks the latter might be the case, simply because of the toilet roll roses. I mean, realistically, what kind of robber is going to take the time out of their day to sculpt an origami rose? And are we supposed to believe they got carried away cleaning and ‘forgot’ to take any stuff? Yeah, not likely.

Regardless, Roman isn’t taking any chances and has changed all the locks to his home – although now some time has passed, he says he can laugh about it a little bit.
