After stumping up $60 million (£39.6 million) to put into the Adam Sandler spoof, Netflix now seems to be pretending it never happened.

After being released just three days ago, it’s fair to say that The Ridiculous 6 is not winning itself many fans at all with both critics and viewers branding it ‘unwatchable’. According to Christopher Hooton of The Independent the film has now disappeared from his and several others’ Netflix homepage carousel, and can’t be found among the ‘Trending Now’, ‘Popular on Netflix’ or ‘Recently Added’ sections – suggesting the company are trying to hide it from viewers.

The fact that Netflix’ chose not to let critics see the film before it was released speaks volumes – not to mention the fact that several several Native American extras walked off the set claiming the script was littered with racist gags and indisputable greats like Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel can’t even save this one.

On the plus side it’s given rise to some hilarious reviews, with Variety’s Justin Chang writing:

Why pay Sandler’s idiot shenanigans the compliment of anger? There’s nothing here so inspired as to warrant the audience’s contempt, much less its surprise. Still, the [star] here is undoubtedly Ramon’s donkey, who gives 110% whether he’s fellating [Tyler] Lautner on screen or standing perfectly still while Steve Buscemi rubs ointment inside the beast’s rectum. Which, incidentally, would make a far more appropriate destination for The Ridiculous 6 than your Netflix queue.

Bad news is Sandler signed up for a series of four Netflix originals, so there’s plenty more where this came from. Great.
