Three children were reportedly killed when a teenage ISIS fighter accidentally detonated his explosive belt, killing his entire family.
The unnamed boy belonged to the so-called ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ gang and was recruited by the Islamic State.
The tragedy took place in Mosul, Iraq, when the boy put the device on and went back to his home in the al-Wehda district of the city.
A source told the Daily Mail:
The teenager’s belt exploded inside his home. It appeared later that all of his family, including three children, were killed.
It comes as part of ISIS strategy to strengthen its grip on the ground and intimidate the people
The extremist terrorist group is notorious for hiring underage fighters to wear suicide belts and appear in propaganda videos.
IS took control of Mosul in 2014 and have been fighting to retain the power at the cost of many civilian lives.
