Jack Black Got A Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

The actor Jack Black has been honoured in Hollywood with his own star on the city’s legendary Walk of Fame.

Throughout his long list of thank yous, the 49-year-old couldn’t help but end his speech with a quip about US president Donald Trump.

Wrapping up his speech, Black said:

Anyway, I love you all so much, except for Donald Trump’s a piece of sh*t! Peace out, love you!

The actor spoke more seriously earlier in his speech, saying:

I’ve wanted one of these things for so long. Since I was a kid I thought, ‘Oh man, if you get one of those stars on the sidewalk that means you’ve made it.’ And I feel like I’ve finally grasped that sweet brass ring.

As is to be expected from Jack Black, he couldn’t help but burst into his famous comedy-rock singing.

He said/sang:

In the immortal words of Axl Rose, ‘Where do we go now?’ […] I got the thing! Why continue? I’ve made it!

The actor assured the crowd of fans that had gathered he would still be doing Jumanji 2 and another instalment in the Kung Fu Panda series.

He also said, however, that it was time to ‘pass the torch […] to the Tommy and Sammy Blacks of the world’ looking at his sons, before adding ‘Unless something really cool comes around.’

School of Rock writer Mike White and director Richard Linklater also spoke at the event, sharing memories and admiration for Jack.

Richard Linklater said, as per Variety:

He’s the most charitable sweetheart of a guy. But from what I know working with him, I just wanna say, he’s such a great guy to hang out with.

While Mike White said:

The bigger the legend you are, like, the human, the person, recedes. What I think is the most impressive is that the legend that [people] love is incredibly close to the actual person that he is.

Though Jack Black is known for playing many roles throughout his career, his place in Tenacious D, alongside Kyle Glass, has become a firm fan favourite.

Though the band has toured intermittently, it’s been 12 years since they graced our screen in 2006’s Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.

The time has come, however, for a long awaited sequel.

According to my AJC, Jack Black made the exciting revelation during Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival on May 6, where he announced:

I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it [the film], but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out.

Despite originally bombing quite hard at the box office – raking in just $14 million of the $20 million budget – In The Pick of Destiny has gained a solid cult following in the years since.

Exceeding $10 million through DVD sales, this slow burner is a must for any Jack Black/Kyle Glass fan. It’s also worth the watch for its wealth of cameos from music icons alone, such as Dave Grohl, Meatloaf and Ronnie James Dio.
