Over the years James Bond has been labelled many things; sexist, old-fashioned, violent and even psychopathic but smug? Never smug.
A least that’s the view of legendary Bond producer, Barbara Broccoli, who’s ruled out fan-favourite Tom Hiddleston as too smug to ever wield the iconic Walther PPK.
According to an insider close to Ms Broccoli she ‘doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston’ as he’s a bit too smug for Bond and lacks the toughness necessary to play the character.
Bit harsh. Has she not seen The Night Manager?
Anyway while Tom’s reeling from the news that he’s not going to get to get a license to kill anytime soon, there is some good news for the rest of us.
According to the insider they’ve managed to convince the current incarnation of the Martini swilling super spy, Daniel Craig, to return for one more film after Broccoli produced his off-Broadway production of Othello.
A source said:
Daniel was very pleased with how Othello went and the great reviews
Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script – screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.
No word on what the story will be but we’re already taking bets on how long Bond’s retirement and relationship with Dr. Madeleine Swann, which was established at the end of the last film Spectre, will last.
I’m currently thinking 3-4 minutes but it all depends how desperate they are to get to whichever overrated pop-flavour of the month they’ve dragged into the recording booth’s song.
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
