Actor and singer Jamie Foxx abruptly walked out of an interview after being asked about his relationship with Katie Holmes.
The two Hollywood superstars have been in a secret relationship the past six years following Holmes’ divorce from ex-husband Tom Cruise and the reason it was kept under wraps, was due to a clause she signed when separating from the Mission Impossible star.
It was only September last year when the two made their relationship public after they were spotted in Malibu holding hands.
However, it seems the two are still reluctant to talk about it with the media as proven by Foxx’s reaction to a question at yesterday’s NBA All-Star Weekend:
Foxx was being interviewed by ESPN’s SportsCenter before he was about to take part in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Los Angeles.
Things were going okay but it soon turned sour when host and interviewer Michael Smith asked him about recent pictures of Foxx and Katie with a basketball.
Smith asked Foxx:
I know you’ve prepared and I saw pictures. Did you and Katie Holmes play basketball for Valentine’s Day? Like some real ‘Love and Basketball’?
Clearly peeved by the question, Foxx gave a rye smile, shook his head, took off his headphones and left the interview.
All Smith could say was:
Uh oh, did we lose him?
According to The Independent, a source close to the couple said:
They’re starting to be more comfortable about their relationship.
They’d both been in public relationships before. They care about each other a lot and they tried to stay as quiet as possible because they didn’t want to ruin that … Jamie brings a lot of joy and happiness into her life. They’ve definitely become more serious.
However, the former Dawson’s Creek actress’ main priority is still her 11-year-old daughter Suri, who she shares custody with Cruise.
The unknown insider continued:
She’s an amazing mom. She’ll choose her family over him any day … When they’re together it works. When they’re not, they’re on their own. It’s what works for them … Katie found happiness with Katie first.
She’s worked her ass off since the divorce and she’s finally gotten to a place where she’s made a name for herself and can be her own person. She’s back to her old self and it’s great to watch
One person who isn’t happy about the relationship is Cruise – he’s said to feel ‘betrayed’ by Holmes and Foxx – who he considered a ‘close friend’.
The two even worked together on the critically acclaimed Collateral, directed by Michael Mann.
A source close to the Mission Impossible actor explained to Hollywood Life how Tom feels let down by two people he once trusted:
Tom is shocked and upset that Katie is dating a co-star he once considered a close friend. He feels betrayed by both of them.
Despite keeping their relationship a secret for so long, it wasn’t long before the former-head-honcho of Scientology found out.
The Hollywood Life source continued:
Tom has known about Katie and Jamie’s secret relationship since the beginning and it has always bothered him that they were hooking up.
While Katie and Jamie did their best to keep things a secret from the world, Tom is too well-connected and found out about them shortly after their romance began.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were married between 2006 and 2012.
After their separation, Katie admitted she feared her ex-husband would take their daughter due to his powerful connections (at the time) in the Chruch of Scientology.
