Instagram star Jen Selter has claimed she was left ‘humiliated’ after being removed from an American Airlines flight.
The fitness model, who has over 11 million followers on Instagram, tweeted footage of her arguing with a pilot and a flight attendant.
Selter was on a delayed flight from Miami to New York La Guardia on January 27 before she got kicked off the plane.
According to Selter the plane been sitting stationary for more than two hours when she got out of her seat to stretch and put her jacket away, Page Six reports.
Jen claims a male flight attendant noticed she was standing up and went up to her saying ‘you have to sit ma’am’.
The two began to argue and soon enough five officers arrived to escort a crying Selter and her sister off the plane after the attendant called the police.
In a video an officer is seen telling the model:
The crew is asking for you guys to be removed off the plane. American Airlines calls the shots. They don’t want you to fly on their plane today.
Selter spoke to Page Six about her experience saying:
It was humiliating. They made me feel like a terrible person, and I did nothing wrong.
The plane wasn’t taking off. I told him to relax. But he had something against me. He was so nasty.
All of a sudden five cops came up. I was literally getting attacked.
I will never ever fly American Airlines again.
I’ve seen cops come onto flights. But they shouldn’t kick people off unless something is actually dangerous.
There was so much bickering on the plane. Everyone just wanted to get the hell to New York.
She added that a passenger who was sitting in front of her was also removed when he argued with the flight attendant over a different issue.
Selter also posted footage of a fellow female passenger who got off the plane on her own accord in protest at what happened.
A spokesperson for American Airlines said in a statement:
Ms. Selter was asked to leave the aircraft after a disagreement occurred Saturday night at Miami International Airport (MIA).
American offered her hotel accommodations and transportation, which she declined. She flew on American Sunday morning back to New York (LGA) – arriving around 8:30 a.m. ET yesterday morning.
The argument didn’t end there as Selter replied to this tweeting:
AND correction American Airlines your employees working that night did NOT offer ANY accommodation.
They specifically said if you get taken off, they are not responsible anymore and that we can sleep in the airport.
Many of her fans are showing their support calling on American Airlines to further address the issue.
