Jim Carrey has revealed he has ‘proof’ his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, was blackmailing him before her suicide in 2015.
White claimed she became suicidal after Carrey gave her herpes, but according to new legal documents, White had herpes before she met Carrey.
The comedian is claiming White got her friend’s medical records, which showed a clean bill of health and then edited the patient information to make it seem the records were her own.
According to TMZ, Carrey’s new legal docs claim the 30-year-old make-up artist presented the falsified medical records as conclusive proof of a before and after narrative, in which the only change to her medical situation was she started having sex with Carrey – contracting herpes as a result.
The evidence for this comes in the form of text messages between White and her friend – in the texts, White reportedly asks the unnamed friend to go to Planned Parenthood to get her medical records.
One of the texts apparently says:
I need to see the layout… I will need to work on it before I give it to him.
The documents were filed in connection with a lawsuit against Carrey, which was filed by White’s estranged husband, Max Burton and mother, Brigid Sweetman.
The suit claims the herpes as the reason for White’s suicide and says Carrey is responsible for giving her the disease.
Michael Avenatti, attorney for Cathriona’s estate, said of the new claim:
[It’s] complete and utter bullsh*t. When the truth comes out, Mr. Carrey and certain of his advisers are going to be criminally prosecuted for their conduct in this case.
They better buckle up.
Last month, we reported on similar allegations made by Carrey against White after he alleged she’d attempted to extort money from him with the false claims of a sexually transmitted disease.
Cathriona’s mother filed a wrongful death suit against Carrey in 2016 after her daughter committed suicide on 28 Sept 2015, overdosing on prescription pills.

In the suit, Ms Sweetman accused Carrey of giving her daughter multiple STDs – Sweetman also claims Carrey had illegally obtained ‘highly addictive and, in this case, deadly’ drugs which her daughter used to take her own life.
Sweetman alleged Carrey gave White three STDs without informing her of the danger of transmission – Carrey denied the allegations.
In response, Carrey filed a cross-complaint claiming in 2013, Cathriona attempted to extort money out of him by alleging he gave her herpes.
In a statement published in People, Carrey wrote:
Unfortunately, I made the mistake three years ago of giving in and settling false claims made against me by Mr. Marchino, on behalf of Cat, as mounting a public defense is a very costly and painful process.
At the time I felt Cat was being exploited by Marchino. Since this new case was filed, I have discovered the depth of deception behind those false claims, the kind of deception decent people fall for, because to us, such behavior is unimaginable.
I will not give in a second time to these same fraudulent charges initiated by Cat’s husband in name but not substance, Mark Burton and her estranged mother.
Nor am I responsible for what these desperate characters have inadvertently unearthed about the woman I adored. I was clearly blinded by my affection.
Regardless, I will hold a place of empathy and forgiveness for Cat and continue to focus on the many blessings in this life.
Carrey’s recent behaviour during an interview at New York Fashion Week sparked concerns the legendary funny man was struggling with the pressure of the trial.
However, he later clarified he was experiencing existential issues surrounding ‘who is Jim Carrey?’ which led to him acting a little bit odd.
