US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel has given his fans an update on his young son’s progress after having open-heart surgery.
Billy, who is now three months old, had his surgery back in April when he was just three days old.
The 49-year-old first spoke out about his son’s condition in a heart-wrenching, 13-minute monologue which aired on his late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live, in May.
During his monologue back in May, Jimmy said Billy would have to have another open-heart surgery in ‘three to six months’ and then he’ll have a third operation ‘sometime maybe in his early teens to replace the valve he has now’.
An emotional Jimmy also made a plea to preserve the Affordable Care Act, in the States saying: “I saw a lot of families [at the hospital], and no parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life. It just shouldn’t happen. Not here.”
Jimmy’s wife Molly McNearney also tweeted a photo of a very happy-looking Billy, writing: “Billy’s looking out for a lot of his buddies at Children’s Hospital. Remind your Congresspeople to protect them.”
Good to see little Billy smiling and recovering well.
