The long-awaited sequel to John Wick: Chapter 2 will begin filming this month, with Keanu Reeves poised to step back into the role of the world’s deadliest assassin.

To think, it all started because Iosef Tarasov – played by Alfie Allen – decided to kill John Wick’s puppy. If he could’ve just shown some restrain  we wouldn’t be here, right now, excitedly waiting for the third – and most likely final film in the John Wick saga.

According to Screen Rant, John Wick: Chapter 3 will begin filming on April 26 and while the plot has been kept under wraps, we can assume it will pick up right after – or just after – the end of its 2017 predecessor.

At the end of the last film, John Wick had committed the cardinal sin by killing another assassin at The Continental hotel, a neutral ground for assassins. His actions led to him being disavowed by the guild and a huge bounty being placed on his head.

Chad Stahelski, who helmed the first two films, will be back in the director’s chair and screenwriter Derek Kolstad will be returning as well to pen the script. The hyper-violent John Wick: Chapter 2 was a solid box office hit for film studio Lionsgate, raking in $92 million (over £80 million) in the US.

The original John Wick was released in 2014, with very little press or promotion and yet, in spite of this, it quickly became a cult hit.

Omega Underground reports filming locations for the third instalment will include New York, Montreal, Russia and Spain.

Prior to the announcement, Reeves expressed an interest in wanting to shoot in Tokyo and Jerusalem.

It’s also been suggested Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Common and Ian McShane could all be returning for the third film, while Westworld’s Hiroyuki Sanada is rumoured to be the main villain.

Stahelski has promised the third film will, finally, explore the origins of John Wick – aka the ‘baba yaga’, aka ‘the man you send in to kill the boogeyman’.

Away from the film, there are also plans to make a series exploring the expanded universe and the mysterious Continental hotel, which is a safe haven for the world’s deadliest assassins.

The series, titled The Continental has been picked up by American TV network Starz.

The hotel also offers services like a gun sommelier alongside it’s cooked breakfast option. Some would compare it to a Premier Inn, I’d prefer to think of it as the Hilton for those who like a bit of danger in their life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keanu Reeves will make an appearance on the show as the legendary hitman but he won’t be the main star.

Reeves will also be working as an executive producer on the project along with Basil Iwanyk and Chad Stahelski, who directed all three John Wick films.

The show’s being run and written by Chris Collins who’s got an impressive CV, previously working on projects which include, The Man in the High Castle and The Wire.
