Philosophical Kanye made an appearance on Ellen this week, and he didn’t disappoint.

After working to pry more than three words out of the rapper, Ellen quizzed him about his kids and whether he regretted anything he’d ever tweeted. The money question though, was asking Yeezy about his appeal to Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion in funding.

Ellen asked Kanye West to give her ‘one example’ of the ideas he had, ‘because maybe someone watching will give you the money.’

And it’s pretty clear she quickly realised that you should never, ever ask Kanye West to give you just one of his ideas. It all ended up in a rambling, nearly unbroken, nearly seven minute speech.

In what probably seemed like an eternity for audience members, West touched on key points such as Michael Jackson, the Renaissance period, glass ceilings, Walt Disney, and clothes.

He went on to say:

I don’t give a fuck how much you sold, if you playing on radio. Are you connecting? Picasso is dead. Steve Jobs is dead. Walt Disney is dead. Name somebody living that you can name in the same breath as them. Don’t tell me about being likable.

We got a hundred years here. We’re one race, the human race, one civilization. We’re a blip in the existence of the universe! And we constantly try to pull each other down! Not doing things to help each other. That’s my point. It’s like, I’m shaking talking about it.

I know it’s daytime TV, but I feel that I can make a difference while I’m here. I feel that I can make things better through my skill set. I’m an artist, and I feel that I can make things better through my skill set.

Pretty much through the whole thing, Ellen – who hasn’t spoken for what seem like an eternity – is sitting motionless.

Kanye finally ends it with: “I’m sorry, daytime television. I’m sorry for the realness.”

And Ellen sums it up pretty perfectly with, “Well it’s not daytime television anymore,” before cutting to commercial.

If your ears can handle it, watch a snippet of Kanye’s rant here:
