Apparently when Kanye West raps, it saves lives.

And Lamar Odom is crediting his music with saving his.

While Lamar was in intensive care, Kanye West rapped to the former basketball pro at his bedside to help him recover from his near-death experience in a brothel.

The revelation comes after footage of Khloe Kardashian’s estranged husband lying in a coma was shown for the first time on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

During the episode, Khloe said that ‘Lamar wasn’t able to walk,’ and that ‘he had no facial recognition.’

So because the 36-year-old was unable to communicate with friends and family at the time, Kanye West used music as a way of getting through to him, Rolling Stone reports. And apparently it worked.

Kim Kardashian said on Sunday’s episode of KUWTK:

There was a moment when Lamar couldn’t really express himself and he couldn’t really talk, but he could hear what we were saying to him.

Kanye really felt we can cure him through music, like we can get him to talk. He would go to the hospital and he would rap and sing, and I think Lamar started to get his function back and started to talk once he started to listen to a lot of music.

She also added that Lamar had told her: “Kanye’s music helped me so much. That’s when I realized I could start thinking again and things were coming back to me and I could start articulating it.”

So while it may seem outlandish, apparently it’s true.

It’s not the first time music has helped someone recover from intensive care, either. Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Adele songs have all been credited with bringing people out of a coma.

Considering the Kardashian family were told that Lamar only had 4 hours to live, and he’s now nearly fully recovered – that’s a pretty remarkable turnaround.
